Study findings
Cortexin reduced selected inflammatory and apoptosis markers but did not significantly reduce necrosis volume versus control (32.75% versus 38.16%; p=0.198). BDNF was unchanged with Cortexin.
- Population and setting
- Male Wistar rats after cerebral ischemia–reperfusion
- Evidence type
- Animal / experimental
- Preparation
- See the original report; formulation details require verification.
- Source language
- rus
- Title source
- Title as recorded in the linked source or index. A separate original-language title has not been transcribed unless shown above.
Study limitations
- Do not assign the stronger Mexidol results to Cortexin.
- Biochemical analyses used five animals per group; assessment was at 24 hours.
- A neutral tissue-injury result alongside biomarker changes does not establish clinical stroke benefit.
Publication counts are not counts of independent trials. Reviews, translations and reports sharing participants may overlap. Findings apply to the studied preparation, population and endpoints.
